NSW: New cruise ship for Sydney
Sydney has a new international visitor.
It's the Royal Caribbean cruise ship "Legend of the Seas", which docked at Darling
Harbour just after dawn carrying 1,124 passengers including more than 100 Australians.
At nearly 70,000 tons, she's one of the largest cruise vessels to call at Sydney.
She was given a traditional water-spray from a lone tug in the half-light, cheers from
workmen on the Harbour Bridge, and a 13-piece band playing "Waltzing Matilda."
President of Royal Caribbean International JACK WILLIAMS says Australia is important
to the company's future plans, indicating more visits in the future.
"Legend of the Seas" is due to sail tonight for Melbourne, then on to Hobart, New Zealand
ports and the International Date Line for the new millennium.
