Putnam may get new store, Home Depot in: negotiations for Liberty Square spot

Home Depot may be moving into the Liberty Square shopping plaza inPutnam County, officials said. "It's being negotiated right now," AlSummers, developer of the complex, said today. "It looks real good... We spent a lot of time and effort to make it happen."

John Simley, a spokesman for Home Depot, said Wednesday thatLiberty Square "has all the ingredients that we are looking for intrying to site a store."

Summers said his brokers are handling the deal with Home Depot,which he called "active" and "strong."

The developer said the Home Depot deal is "in the hands of thelegal departments between our company and their company right now."
