It's time to think about the welfare of our canine companions, who suffer from exposure to cold and wet weather as much as humans.
As cold rain and snow fall, the dog's paws require attention. After a walk on a snowy day, the paws should be dried thoroughly. If the exercise is taken in a snowstorm, the coat must be rubbed down, and dried.
Some breeds get along very well in snow and cold - the Northern breeds such as the husky and Eskimo, and many of the hunting breeds.
