TOWNSVILLE, Feb 13 AAP - A heat wave in north Queensland has resulted in a spate ofair-conditioner thefts, police said today.

Townsville police spokesman Sergeant Peter Van Vree said air conditioners have gonemissing from building sites over the past week.

"Apparently the builders are putting them in before they go home for the day and whenthey arrive the next day they're gone," he said.

People should watch out for air conditioners being sold around the city at too-good-to-be-trueprices, Sergeant Van Vree said.
